Today, May 24th, is our 11-year anniversary. Carrie was a child bride and I was a cradle robber. (See picture!)
Carrie and I met when she was 18, fresh out of Orange Park High. I was 23. I had some mileage. But, man, it was love at first sight. She had this big, beautiful smile that would light up the room (again, see picture.) I was in love and ready to lay down my life for her before I even knew how old she was!
In talking to a friend the other day, we came up with a simple praise report. In 11 years together, we've never experienced a "hiccup" in our relationship. Praise the Lord!
We've never gone to bed angry. We've learned how to speak each other's love languages with patience. We've learned how to serve one another daily.
We've been building each other up and never tearing each other down for 11 years straight. Imagine the workplace sign: "no accidents or injuries for 11 years". We owe it all to God. He has shown us the way, through the Scriptures. Without Him, we've got no game.
She's still got that big, beautiful smile that lights up the room.
So, thank you, Carrie. And thank you to our families for your support and love. To our mentors and supporters, thank you. Thank you to our church families for your encouragement and examples. And thank you, Jesus for your blessing from Proverbs 5:
"May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth."
Will do, Lord!
